How do I book?
As you are probably on the website while reading this, you will find that the easiest way to book is online. Just click HERE
You can also complete the booking over the phone by calling 01886 853201.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. We ask for a deposit of 30% of the cost of your accommodation when you book. The full balance must then be paid no later than 30 days before your arrival date.
If you fail to make payment of the balance, the 30% payment then becomes non-returnable and your booking will be cancelled.
If you want to cancel a booking you must notify us in writing by email. If you do so more than 30 days before the date of arrival we will refund your deposit.
How do I pay the balance?
You will receive an email from us a couple of weeks before your balance is due, giving you full details of how to make payment. You can also pay by calling our office on 01886 853201 to pay by card
When will I receive a booking confirmation and directions?
You will receive a booking confirmation when a reservation has been made. A second confirmation along with directions to the property will be sent when your stay is paid in full.
What time can I arrive and depart?
In order that your accommodation can be properly prepared, it is important that you do not arrive before the designated arrival time, which is 4pm. We do try to be flexible if you REALLY need to check in early, but we like to make sure our Lodges are perfect for you and this takes time after the last guests have checked out.
Departure time is before 10am for the same reason.
Can I bring a dog?
Yes! All of our Lodges welcome dogs, and they are also welcome in the bars and at least one restaurant area of the Baiting House itself provided they’re well-behaved.
There's a charge of £15 per dog per stay to cover the extra cleaning costs. If you're planning on bringing a dog, please make sure that you've told us in advance - we need to make sure we have adequate housekeeping scheduled to clean your Lodge when you check out. If you haven't told us in advance that you're bringing a dog, we'll add the charge to your account to be settled on check out. Please note that the £15 charge doesn't cover damage to our Lodges caused by pets - these will be charged separately (see below)
Tell me about the Hot Tubs
Enjoy lovely warm bubbles day and night, even when it's cold and wet outside. The hot tubs are located on your patio and are not covered as most guests want to gaze at the stars or enjoy the rain falling on them. We do provide beach towels for the Lodges, but we don't provide bathrobes or footwear, so you may want to bring along a bathrobe and flip flops to make getting in and out of your tub more comfortable. PLEASE note the hygiene information contained in your welcome pack regarding the hot tubs - avoid getting into them wearing fake tan and, most importantly, no glass is to be brought into or anywhere near the hot tub. Broken glass means that the hot tubs are not usable for several days, and we unfortunately need to charge for any losses caused by breaches of these simple rules.
Do you cater for customers with restricted mobility?
The Lodges are in a separate field and require a walk from your car, in some cases uphill. We therefore do not recommend them for customers with restricted mobility. The Baiting House itself does have step-free access, a disabled WC and accommodation for those with restricted mobility.
How many people can stay in a Lodge?
The Lodges have one bedroom with a king sized bed. Each Lodge also has a sofa bed which will accommodate up to 2 additional adults or children. Please notify us when booking if you will need the use of a sofa bed and we will advise of availability and also arrange for the provision of linens etc.
All our pricing is based on 2 people sharing a Lodge - there's an additional charge of £25 per night for additional occupants.
Do the Lodges have showers?
Yes. Each Lodge has a fully-equipped bathroom with shower, WC and washbasin. They do not have bathtubs.
Do the Lodges have dedicated parking?
Yes. The Lodges have their own car park, separate from the car park for the Baiting House itself, exclusively for the use of Lodges guests.
Please be aware that a short walk is required to get from the car park to your Lodge. It is NOT possible to drive up to your Lodge to load or unload, but it's only a short walk from the can park.
Will I have the use of a telephone?
The Lodges do not have direct-dial telephones, in order to keep them as a peaceful retreat. They do, however have wifi and several networks allow for wifi calling. The mobile signal in the Teme Valley is terrible!
Are linens and towels supplied?
Yes. Egyptian cotton bed linens and fluffy towels are included in your rates. Linens are not changed daily for guests staying for a short break or 3 or 4 days but we can provide more towels etc if you ask for them. If you are staying with us for a week or more, your linens will be changed each Friday and Monday.
Can we smoke in the Lodges?
No. All Lodges, and the Baiting House itself, are non-smoking. We do have a facility for smokers outside the pub with heating in the winter. We reserve the right to charge a cleaning fee of up to £100 if you smoke in the Lodge and additional cleaning or odour removal is required.
You are allowed to smoke on the patio of your Lodge.
What’s included in my self-catering accommodation?
We do provide basic store cupboard items in the Lodges such as salt, pepper, cooking oil etc but you will need to bring your own provisions. Our welcome pack does include some day to day items such as milk, tea and coffee to keep you going for a day or so.
Your accommodation will be equipped with bedding and pillows, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. We can also supply a highchair. For health and safety reasons, guests requiring a cot are required to provide their own travel cots.
In summer months (May - end September) we supply a disposable barbecue for you to use on the patio. We've tried using regular charcoal barbecues, but the cleaning time means that they are not practical for use in the Lodges. Further barbecue packs are available for purchase. From October to end-April we provide a fire pit (with a bag of wood) instead of a barbecue.
What happens if something gets damaged?
We understand that a certain amount of wear and tear is inevitable and this applies to the odd smashed glass or broken plate.
However, if something does get damaged during your stay at the Lodges do let us know ASAP so that it can be fixed or replaced. We do reserve the right to charge for more serious damage and breakages such as incidents to carpets, furniture, electrical and kitchen equipment, broken windows etc.
Do we need to clean the Lodge before we leave?
Each Lodge will be thoroughly cleaned before it is made available to the next guest. However, we do ask that you leave your Lodge in the same state of cleanliness and general order as you found it. That means, for example, ensuring that all rubbish is put in the bin for disposal and crockery etc washed and dried.Please be a considerate guest!
